More than a competition – we’re creating accessible homes & communities.
ZeroThreshold started as a design competition to elevate the idea of accessibility through intentional beautiful design. We challenged architects and designers from around the world to re-imagine accessible homes, community spaces, and whole neighborhoods. We challenged them to design spaces so innovative and beautiful that anyone (seniors, young families, those abled or disabled) would say “I want that!” We grounded the competition in reality by placing it in the Cleveland neighborhood of Old Brooklyn. Join us on September 19 and judge for yourself how well professionals and students from around the world answered that call!
This is just the beginning.
There is no doubt that more affordable accessible housing is needed as we seek to keep our communities whole and thriving. But homes should be more than just functional – they need to be beautiful and help people live well. ZeroThreshold is an important step in changing the conversation about accessibility and moving us to consider aesthetics as a part of accessibility. Not only will it launch Cleveland towards being the world’s best “barrier-free city”, the solutions that surface can be broadly applicable to cities throughout the United States and around the world. These are more than just ideas. The most compelling and innovative designs are being considered for build in Old Brooklyn. It’s another step in the journey.
Join us on September 19 and experience the top entries submitted from six countries. See what could be coming to a neighborhood near you. Hear from designers, experts, and the winners themselves. And let your voice be heard as we embark on this journey to create truly barrier-free living.
Online registration for the ZeroThreshold events is quick and easy. If you’d prefer to reserve your tickets by phone, please call Shannon at 216-365-2619 (M – F from 9 am to 5 pm).
